	LAUREATES OF 2003 ARE HANDED WITH THE M.A.LAVRENTIEV PRIZE November, 19, on the anniversary of outstanding Russian scientist, founder of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences Academician Michail Alekseevich Lavrentiev a ceremonial meeting devoted to the M.A.Lavrentiev Prize presenting to the winners of 2003 as well as to celebratory ordaining of new generation of talented and inquisitive schoolchildren into “PhysMath-kids” has been held at the House of Scientists of the SB RAS.
	IT SHOULD BE MUCH OF GOOD EDUCATION On November, 20, according to the initiative of Rector of the Tomsk Polytechnic University Yu.Poholkov, an out session of the Presidium of the SB RAS has been held in Tomsk. Experience in the cooperation of the Institutes of the Branch and the Universities of Novosibirsk and Tomsk was under discussion.

	"START" PROGRAM FOR INNOVATION PROJECTS According to the decision of supervisory council, the Foundation for assistance to the development of small-scale enterprises in scientific and technical sphere announces the beginning of a new program "START" for financing innovation projects being at an initial stage of development.
	ACADEMICIAN P.I. MELNIKOV. STROKES FOR THE PORTRAIT This year it would be the 95th anniversary from the birthday of Academician Pavel Ivanovich Melnikov who has devoted all his life to the studies and reclamation of the North as well as to the development of young science of geocryology. The Institute of Permafrost of the SB RAS headed by him more than 40 years is named after him.

	MARATHON OF PROGRAMMERS HAS COME TO THE END On November, 17, 2003 the 4th I.V.Pottosin Open All-Siberian Olympiad has been concluded with internal round in which 31 strongest teams of students- programmers of Russia struggled for the winner status.
