	THE DAY OF RUSSIAN SCIENCE AT THE KEMEROVO SCIENTIFIC CENTER OF THE SB RAS
	ABOUT THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE SB RAS The Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences enacts to hold the next Annual General Meeting of the Branch from March 22 to March 23, 2001.
	SIBEXPOCENTER: "SCIENCE. EDUCATION. NEW TECHNOLOGIES" It`s remarkable that the first exhibition in new Millennium at the International Exhibition Center "SibExpoCenter" in Irkutsk was devoted to science and education.
	THE SEMINAR IS 40 The first physico-chemical seminar at the Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion has been held on January 11, 1961. Academician V.Voevodsky organized it.
	HIGH ESTIMATIONS FOR BIOLOGISTS Per the Day of Science, February 8, the Presidium meeting was opened by a musical congratulation of the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Society. Then the salutatory cables from the City and Regional Administrations were read. The chief deputy of the Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Novosibirsk Region I.Prostiakov has addressed kind words to the scientists.
	RESTLESS ACTIVITY Valery Dmitrievich Ermikov, assistant of the Chief Scientific Secretary of the Siberian Branch, Head of the Department on Scientific Research Organization is the well-known person in the Siberian Branch, an old resident of Academgorodok. More than 20 years he has worked in the Presidium machinery without turning into a formalist functionary, and has become an excellent organizer of science, indispensable helper of the Branch governing body.
	TO COGNIZE THE EARTH`S BOWELS In the last "SiS" issue we have published the names of young scientists who have won the State Scientific Scholarship in the Competition of 2000. Today we present the young scientists of the Institute of Geology of the UIGGM SB RAS.
	INVITATION TO THE CONFERENCE The Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and the European Mathematical Society (EMS) held the first joint conference "Applied Mathematics in our alternating world".
	FROM THEORY UP TO MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES At the Krasnoyarsk Academgorodok the 10th International Symposium "The Homeostasis Concept: Theoretical, Experimental and Applied Aspects" has been held. It has been headed by Doctor Sc. (Biology), Professor V.Nefedov, executive director of the International Scientific Center for Research of Extreme States of Organism (ISCRESO) at the Presidium of the Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center of the SB RAS.
	AN INDUSTRY DURING ECONOMIC CRISIS Novosibirsk has lost the yield of almost all of its complex industrial production, and within the nearest 5-10 years there is no advance anticipated without paying close attention to this. 	ARCHEOLOGISTS DREAMING ABOUT UKOK... The Ukok, a small plateau in the south of the Altai Highlands, has kept surprising archeological monuments for science. Both inaccessibility and severe natural environments provided this. Dozens of scientific articles and some books have been already written following the materials of digging at the plateau. A novel documentary book by Viacheslav Molodin "Antiquities of the Ukok plateau: mysteries, sensations, discoveries" is of the scientific, popular and belles- lettres genre.
	OPTIMISTIC HISTORY The book by V.Ignatiev "Biologists — hunt scientists" is devoted to the history of the Moscow Fur Institute, there is an information on the professors, including an essay about the favorite of hunt scientists, Professor P.Manteifel, essays and sketches about forty Institute graduates of 1952 and about many other biologists - hunt scientists.
