	GREAT LIFE OF SYNCHROTRON OF RADIATION Ten Russian scientists are awarded this year with worthy tribute, the RF Governmental Prize in the field of science and engineering. There are three Novosiberians of the G.I.Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics among the prize- winners.
	DESIGN WITH GENETIC VARIATIONS The work executed by the researchers of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the SB RAS and the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the Byelorussian NAS is awarded with the Aademician V.A.Koptig Prize for 2006.
	THE MISSION IS PRACTICABLE Theoretical and methodological bases for the working out strategic documents of long-term social and economic development of the subjects of Federation have been formulated at the Institute of Economics and Industrial Engineering of the SB RAS.
	THE HOUSE OF EXTRA COMFORT The researches in the field of modern biotechnologies directed on the improvement of human health become more and more wide-ranging. Experiments with laboratory animals are the necessary stage on this way.
	CATALYSTS WORKING FOR THE NATIONAL ECONOMY The Institute of Catalysis of the SB RAS participates in the realization of the megaproject «Development and industrial commercialization of catalysts and catalytic technologies of new generation for motor fuels production».
	THE EPOCH OF NANOTECHNOLOGIES The past, the present and the future are connected together in outward things, and often that that seemed a fantasy several decades ago, appears as an indisputable truth, as a reality of our time.
	THE LASER IS CONTROLLING REACTIONS The most powerful in the world source of terahertz (submillimeter) radiation, free electron laser is constructed at the G.I.Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics of the SB RAS.
	VACUUM TECHNOLOGIES IN THE FREE SPACE In the Russian space material science the period of the formation of research fields for the next decade and of the strictly motivated scientifically proved choice of the most important and economically profitable programs has ended. In the Space material science Section of the Space Council of the RAS headed by Academician Yuri Osipian the precise mechanism of reviewing and selection of the projects is developed. Last year the program of basic research in the field of space material science for the period up to 2010 has been formulated.
	REALIZING THE CONNECTION OF THE TIMES AND PEOPLES The Institute of Philology of the SB RAS is small, but it unites the experts in different fields - linguists, literary critics, folklorists. And each the department has scientific achievements of which it can be proud.
	THE SPEAKER OF THE STATE DUMA CONSULTING WITH SCIENTISTS May, 16 the Chairman of the RF State Duma Boris Gryzlov who was coming back from China to Moscow stayed for several hours in Novosibirsk. Rather sated program of the staying in our city has come to the end with the meeting with the leading scientists of the Siberian Branch.
	THE DAYS OF SIBERIAN SCIENCE IN AMERICA From May, 6 to May, 12 a visit to the USA (Washington and Houston) of the delegation of the Siberian Branch of the RAS headed by Academician N.Dobretsov has taken place. The purpose of the visit was acquaintance of the USA scientists and experts with the developments of the SB RAS and direct contacts.
	IS SCIENCE IN RUSSIA STILL ALIVE? Professor V.Soyfer’s speech at the opening of the International conference «The days of Siberian science in the USA».
	PHOTO-EXHIBITION «THE SB RAS: 50 YEARS. PEOPLE AND THE YEARS» The opening of photo-exhibition is on May, 30 at 11.00 at the Picture-gallery of the House of Scientists of the SB RAS.
	THE HISTORY OF THE SB RAS ON THE PAGES OF BOOKS During the anniversary days the Branch of the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the SB RAS (Lavrentiev Ave, 6) is calling attention of the scientists, experts, inhabitants and visitors of the Academgorodok to several exhibitions, devoted to the 50th anniversary of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
	MAY, 27 IS THE ALL-RUSSIAN DAY OF LIBRARIES Congratulation of the SB RAS Presidium.
