	THE DAY OF RUSSIAN SCIENCE Congratulation of the SB RAS Presidium.
	THE SB RAS PRESIDIUM MEETING The session of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of January, 29 took place at the House of Scientists of the Novosibirsk Academgorodok. It was devoted to the 75th anniversary of Academician A.E.Kontorovich.
	SOLVING THE PROBLEMS OF KUZBAS February 3 a joint session of the SB RAS Presidium and the Kemerovo Regional Administration took place at the city of Kemerovo.

	BAIKALSK WILL BE REORIENTATED In the last "SiS" issue we have published the information by our Irkutsk correspondent on the epoch-making meeting on the topic "Estimation of present- day condition of the Baikal pulp and paper mill" held January, 21 at the Irkutsk Regional Government. The chairman of the Presidium IrSC of the SB RAS and Scientific Council on the problems of Baikal Lake Academician M.I.Kuzmin has passed to the editors an official document that could be interesting for everyone who is troubled with the destiny of the unique lake.
	INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE The National Aldan-Maadyr Museum Republic Tyva invites to take part in the anniversary events devoted to the 80th anniversary of its foundation. The conference to take place June, 9 to 11, 2009.

	SCIENTISTS DRAWING January, 27, before the Day of Russian Science, at the showroom of the House of Scientists of the SB RAS a remarkable exhibition was opened to display the works of art created by scientific workers who are devoting their free time to art. Science and Art, the supreme fields of human activities are traditionally drawing attention of creative, harmoniously developed people.
	IN MEMORY OF THE TEACHER January, 25, 2009 after serious long illness the Adviser of the RAS, Corresponding Member of the RAS Sergei Glebovich Rautian has died.
