	«CHEAP SILVER» HAS RISEN IN PRICE The XIX International Chernyaev Conference on chemistry, analytics and technologies of the platinum metals has been arranged by the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and the Institute of Catalysis of the SB RAS on October 4 - 8.
	40 YEARS OF JOINT EXPEDITION The Russian - Mongolian scientific cooperation in the field of environmental protection has a long-term history. This year the joint Russian - Mongolian complex biological expedition of the RAS and АSМ has marked its 40th anniversary. The International Conference «Ecological Consequences of Biosphere Processes in Ecotone Zone of Southern Siberia and Central Asia», taking place from September 6 through September 8 in Ulan Bator, was devoted to this date.
	PROBLEMS TO BE SOLVED The III International Scientific-Practical Conference «Info-Communications and Computational Technologies and Systems» has been held in the Buryat State University from September 6 through September 11.
	THE FIFTH VERESCHAGIN CONFERENCE The Fifth Vereschagin Baikal Conference takes place at the Limnological Institute of the SB RAS from October 4 through October 9. In its work participate more than two hundred scientists of various fields of knowledge both from the Russian regions - Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Vladivostok, Barnaul, and from far- abroad countries - Japan, the USA, Korea, France.
	TO THE MEMORY OF BARDUNOV L.V. The All-Russian Conference with participation of foreign scientists «Problems of studying and preservation of Eurasian flora», devoted to the memory of Leonid Vladimirovich Bardunov, Doctor of Sciences (Biology), Professor, the Honored Worker of Science of the RF, has been held at the picturesque corner of Lake Baikal on September 13-16.
	RUSSIA AND THE INTERNATIONAL REPORTING STANDARDS The International Conference «Russia and International Standards of Reporting for Mineral Reserves and Resources» has been held in Moscow.
	TO FIND THE GOLDEN MEAN When the work of All-Russian Youth School-Conference «Actual Problems of Organic Chemistry» was close to be completed, the Press Conference concerning this event was held at the Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry of the SB RAS, which hosted this event.
	FUNCTIONAL HEALTH PRODUCTS In late September, when the autumn more confidently entered into full force, thus testing people for strength and health, an interesting press conference, somehow focused on the given medical aspect, was held at the Presidium of the SB RAS.
	«ENGINEER SHOULD BE TRAINED FRESH FROM SCHOOL» Such was the opinion of participants of a Roundtable «Problems and Prospects of Regional Engineering Education», hosted by the Krasnoyarsk Regional Branch of the Union of Machine Engineers of Russia and the Polytechnic Institute of the Siberian Federal University.
	THE XV INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE The XV International Student Environmental Conference «Ecology of Russia and Adjoining Territories. Studying Problems and the State of Biosystems, Methods of Bioecological Researches» with elements of youth scientific school will be held in the Novosibirsk State University this autumn.

	VASILY VOLKOVSKY CUP FOR THE SB RAS PRIZES The Championship of the Siberian Federal District on Taekwondo (WTF version) «V.I.Volkovsky Cup» has taken place in the NSU Palace of Sports on October 3.
	SILVER OF THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ON HEAVY ATHLETICS AMONG VETERANS Petr Kalantaev, the USSR Master of Sports has won the silver medal of the world championship on heavy athletics among veterans in Chekhanov city of Poland on September 21.
	IN MEMORIAM Oleg Stepanovich Vashkevich, Head Physician of the Irkutsk Scientific Centre hospital of the Siberian Branch of the RAS, the Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation.
