	TO STRENGTHEN POSITIONS OF THE UNIVERSITY Plenipotentiary Representative of the RF President in the Siberian Federal District V.A.Tolokonsky has once again visited the Novosibirsk Academgorodok. First of all he has visited a new, almost ready to settling hostel for post-graduate students, candidates for a master’s degree and students of the Novosibirsk State University, and then at the meeting with the NSU administration has discussed problems and prospects of the further development.
	TO RECOVER THE LOST On January 19 the Novosibirsk Scientific Centre has been visited by delegation headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Russian Federation V.Yu.Yelchenko.
	THE SB RAS - CHINA: OLD IDEAS, NEW OPPORTUNITIES The Permanent Exhibition Center of innovative developments of the SB RAS has been opened in Changchun.
	THIS ELEGANT PHAGE DISPLAY Dozens of scientific subdivisions are engaged in phage display technology. Among them is the Laboratory of Molecular Immunology of the Institute of Сhemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine of the SB RAS. Using academic language, phage display is a method for the study of protein–protein, protein–peptide, and protein–DNA interactions that uses bacteriophages to connect proteins with the genetic information that encodes them.
	EVOLUTIONARY GENETIC STUDIES A question which can not even today be unambiguously answered is - how the life on the Earth has appeared, how a person has turned out to be the one he is today. Short step-by-step, gathering nuggets of information, the researchers have been moving ahead to attainment of truth. The regular lecture of the popular scientific cycle for schoolchildren titled "Academic Hour", which is going to become traditional at the Siberian Branch, has been devoted to this most interesting issue.
	ACADEMIC HOUR The regular popular scientific lecture from a cycle "Academic Hour" will take place in the Сonference Hall of the Exhibition Сenter of the SB RAS on January 26 at 3 p.m. The lecture theme - "Role of Materials in Development of Civilization".
	XIV CONGRESS OF RUSSIAN GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY The 14-th Congress of the All-Russian public organization "Russian Geographical Society" has taken place in Saint Petersburg on December 11-14. It has been devoted to the 165th anniversary of setting up this society in 1845 under the Decree of emperor Nikolai I.
	INTERACTION EXTENDS The Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministry for Nature Protection of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and Institutes of the Yakutia Scientific Centre of the SB RAS has been signed.
	WINNERS OF CITY COMPETITION In 2010 at the competition of innovative projects announced by the Irkutsk City Executive Board, three companies have received 1,1 million roubles for creating production prototypes.
	WAS ONE OF THE ORIGINATORS The 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding geologist, tectonist, Academician Jury Alexandrovich Kosygin, has been marked on January 21, 2011.
