	IN FULL VIGOUR, WITH SUBSTANTIAL INTELLECTUAL RESOURCES The Institute of Cytology and Genetics of SB RAS marked its 55th anniversary, and this memorable occasion has been greatly and meaningfully celebrated.
	ACADEMY OF SCIENCES: FACTORS OF SUCCESS OF SIRERIAN SCIENTIFIC SCHOOLS In recent times, all official scientific and educational policy in Russia has been focused on copying the Anglo-American experience. There was a time, in fact - only 30-40 years ago, when the experience of developing scientific centers in Siberia was copied by such countries as France, Japan, South Korea.
	LAKE BAIKAL IS THE WORLD HERITAGE An International Scientific-Practical Conference “Baikal - the world treasure” has been held in the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
	RESEARCHER OF FORESTS OF PERMAFROST ZONE Jubilee readings, related to the 100th birth anniversary of a major national forester Professor Lev Konstantinovich Pozdnyakov, have been held at the Sukachev Institute of Forest of the SB RAS on May 31.
	PROBLEMS OF IDENTITY: TO UNDERSTAND YOURSELF AND OTHERS A Conference “Problems of Identity in Modern Society”, organized by the NSU Faculty of Psychology, has been held at the Novosibirsk State University on May 17-18.
	TRADITIONAL FORUM OF BIBLIOGNOSTS A Scientific Conference “Ninth Makushin Readings” has been held in Barnaul on May 15-16.
	SCHOOL-SEMINAR FOR YOUNG ECONOMISTS An Interregional Youth School-Seminar “Economic Research of the Baikal Region” has been held at the Buryat Scientific Center of SB RAS on May 24.
	SIBERIAN MEDICINE The exhibition “Medsib-2012” has been held from 23 to 25 May in the new building of International Exhibition Complex “Novosibirsk Expo Centre”.
	WITH A VIEW TO FURTHER COOPERATION A representative delegation from Kazakhstan has paid an official visit to Novosibirsk on June 6.
	BOGUCHANSKAYA HPP: ISSUES, PROBLEMS A Workshop on the commissioning of the Boguchanskaya HPP has been held in Irkutsk under the guidance of the Presidium of Irkutsk Scientific Center of SB RAS.
	X-RAY CRYSTAL ANALYSIS IS 100 A Seminar devoted to the discovery by German physicist Max von Laue the Law of X-ray diffraction on crystals has been held at the House of Scientists of SB RAS on May 16.
