	A LARGE INTEGRAL OF EVENTS... According to the results of the 12th competition of the RAS young scientists of 2000, Candidate Sc. (Physics and Mathematics) Michail Achasov, junior researcher Aleksandr Valishev and Candidate Sc. (Physics and Mathematics) Aleksandr Suhanov, young physicists of the G.I Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics of the SB RAS, have been rewarded with medals and prizes of the Russian Academy of Sciences for the series of works "Studies on scarce breakups of vector mesons".
	ABOUT SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL STRATEGY OF RUSSIA IN THE 21ST CENTURY Yuri Osipov, the RAS President: Boundary of centuries is the reason to comprehend experience and to build the new plans. Russia has left the shocks of the 90ths years weakened, but at the same time enriched with new unique experience. Practice of this decade has shown that it is necessary to know the truths based on alien experience, however one should not follow them blindly, leaving behind national features of our country.
	WHY PSEUDO-SCIENCE IS DANGEROUS? The end of the twentieth century has been marked with the bloom of astrology, mysticism, occultism etc. in many countries of the world. However the USSR (last years of its existence) and Russia hold in this sense a special position. Condition of devastation, wreck of old ideals as well as the absence of new ones have resulted in the fact that exhausted, despaired people began to hope only for a miracle...
	BANK OF KNOWLEDGE AVAILABLE TO ALL October 17, 1966 new building of the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the SB AS has accepted the first readers.
	THE LIBRARY AT THE VOSHOD STREET Today not only the employees of the Siberian Branch of the RAS but, perhaps, all the Nonosibirsk dwellers know well this largest library at the Voshod Street. Annually more than 300 thousand readers visit it; there are scientists and experts, students and teachers not only of Novosibirsk, but also of all the Siberian region among them.
	RUSSIAN SCIENTISTS TO FORECAST "SPACE WEATHER" At the end of September the All-Russian Conference on Physics of Solar and Terrestrial Interrelations was held at the Institute of Solar and Terrestrial Physics of the SB RAS.
	THE BAIKAL SCHOOL OF PHYSICISTS At the end of September the Baikal Youth Scientific School on Fundamental Physics (BSFP-2001) was held at the Institute of Solar and Terrestrial Physics. Physics of wave processes has become the main subject of discussion.
	PROBLEMS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGION In modern conditions it has become obvious, that the problems of environmentally safe and sustainable development concern the priorities of internal and foreign policy of the majority of the advanced countries. The 2nd Seminar School of Russian Young Scientists held at Ulan-Ude and in the Baikal Biosphere Reserve was devoted to this subject.
	"ETHNOSOCIAL PROCESSES IN SIBERIA: THE EURASIAN ASPECT" The 6th International Seminars on the problems of development of the peoples of Siberia has been held in Buryatia. Eurasian aspect of ethnosocial processes was at the centre of attention.
