	SOCIAL CHALLENGES TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT The First Symposium named after T.I. Zaslavskaya “Social Challenges to Economic Development” has been held in Novosibirsk on May 16-17. Organizer of the event was the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration attached to the President of the Russian Federation.
	PRESTIGIOUS AWARD GIVEN TO THE NSU ASTROPHYSICISTS Head of the Laboratory of cosmology and elementary particles of NSU Professor A. Dolgov has become the Markov Prize Laureate in the field of elementary particle physics, nuclear physics and neutrino astrophysics for his works in theoretical astrophysics and cosmology.
	TO INSPIRE YOUNG PEOPLE IN MATHEMATICS The IV International Workshop on “Nonlinear analysis and external problems” will be held at the Institute of System Dynamics and Control Theory of SB RAS on June 22-28.
	INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MATHEMATICAL MODELING The Yakutsk North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov will host the VII International Conference on Mathematical Modeling from June 30 to July 4, 2014.
	TRIUMPHING OUTRAGE On May 21, the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of SB RAS has issued a press release on one of the most pressing problems for archaeologists - the depravity of recent years' practice of holding tenders for conducting rescue excavations.
	ACTIVE AGEING THROUGH SPORT Mass competitions on 10 kinds of sports have passed within 2013-2014. The third festival of veteran sports among 10 districts of Novosibirsk has shown not only the mass participation, but also an increase of rivalries in sports, individual and command skills.
