	Meeting of the Presidium of SB RAS
	EXPLORER OF THE NORTHERN FLORA Honoured Scientist of the RS(Ya), Doctor Sc. (Biology), Professor Inna Vasilieva-Kralina celebrates her 60-th anniversary.
	AWARDS FOR THE PEOPLE OF ANGARA BASIN Recently, the Governor of the Irkutsk region Boris Govorin has presented the people of Angara Basin with the state awards. The group of recipients included the researchers from the Institute of Earth Crust of SB RAS.
	GRANTS OF NOVOSIBIRSK CITY ADMINISTRATION, WHAT ARE THEY? Public hearings on the municipal grants were held in Novosibirsk City Hall on February 10. It is known that City Council allocated 1.5 million roubles of the budget funds for 2000 the municipal grants to fund the social projects intended for different interest groups of our city. Who will use the monies and how they will be used—these are the questions discussed at the hearings.
	THE ACADEMIC MUSEUM: YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW The session of the Museum Scientific Council of SB RAS was held under the chairmanship of the Director of the Institute of History, Doctor Sc. (History) V. Lamin. The meeting has been devoted to the past year outcomes and has marked the future prospects for academic museums of Siberia and the Museum Council.
	BSC TAKES THE RIGHT WAY During our meeting with the Chairman of the Presidium of Buryatian Scientific Centre Ivan Gordienko we have recalled the events of the last year and discussed its results.
	THE PROBLEMS OF BAIKAL DISCUSSED IN ULAN-UDE The meeting of the Interagency Work Force on the Ecological Zoning of Baikal Natural Territory and the Water Regime of the Baikal Lake was held at the Baikal Institute of Nature Use of SB RAS (Ulan-Ude). The meeting was organised in accordance of the resolution of Government Commission on Baikal of 15.12.99 and in fulfilment of the Ruling of the Government of RF.
	CENTER FOR PHOTOCHEMICAL RESEARCH The Centre for Photochemical Research of the Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences is founded by the combined efforts of the Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion and the Institute of Nuclear Physics.
	VARIATIONS OF THE AGRICULTURAL THEME The joint meeting of the presidiums of SB RAS and SB RAAS “On R&D activities of the branches directed towards the problems of AIC of Siberia” has been held in the House of Scientists of the community of Krasnoobsk in the end-January.
	SB RAS DEMONSTRATES The authorities of the Siberian Branch RAS together with SB RAAS have adopted the decision to organise the joint exposition of the complete or end-stage projects of agricultural and industrial complex in the House of Scientists (Krasnoobsk) in January 25-27.
	FROM THE CLASSICS TO CONTEMPORANEITY I-st All-Siberian Feminine Congress on Mathematics When the announcement of the I-st All-Siberian Feminine Congress on Mathematics in Krasnoyarsk, which was devoted to the 150-th anniversary of Sofia Kovalevskaya was posted on the bulletin board of the Institute of Computer Modelling of SB RAS, the response was controversial-from mockery to real interest. However, despite all scepticism, the Congress has been held in the specified time-in January 15-18, 2000.

	VACCINATION AGAINST AGEING The life prolongation is the immemorial problem of the mankind. Unfortunately, to our great disappointment, doctors and researchers only restrain themselves to the recommendations concerning the healthy life insisting that this further promotes the prolongation of our presence in this perishable world. There is some sense in this recommendations, however, it is not the fact that regular morning exercises will allow one to live longer than in the case of principal ignoring this kind of training. However, the mankind has a chance to realise its cherished dream. And there is a hope that this chance will come from the researchers of the Institute of Theoretic and Experimental Biophysics (Pushchino) who conduct their studies under the supervision of the Director of INP branch in Protvino, Corresponding Member V.
