The Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences organizes the Siberian School on Geometry and Analysis dedicated to the memory of the outstanding scientist Alexandr Danilovich Alexandrov (1912-1999). The School will take place at Novosibirsk Akademgorodok from September 9 to September 20, 2002.
Academician Alexandr Danilovich Alexandrov is famous due to his very important contributions to the global surface theory and non-smooth Riemannian geometry, to the theory of Brunn-Minkowski inequality and the theory of additive set-functions, to nonlinear partial differential equations and foundations of the theory of relativity. He is known also as a founder of Leningrad and Novosibirsk schools in geometry in the large and as an author of well-done secondary school textbooks in geometry.
The main part of the scientific programme of the present School includes several mini-courses in geometry in the large and geometric analysis. The courses are intended for students and young mathematicians. During evening sessions short communications and poster sessions will be arranged. Abstracts of short communications and poster sessions will be published as a separate booklet.
The following Professors gave a preliminary consent to read mini-courses:
V.N.Berestovskii, V.N.Dubinin, S.V.Gol'din, V.K.Ionin, V.V.Ivanov, S.V.Matveev, A.D.Mednykh, I.G.Nikolaev, Yu.G.Reshetnyk, E.D.Rodionov, I.Kh.Sabitov, V.A.Sharafutdinov, I.A.Taimanov.
