The mixed finite volume methods (FVM) for approximation of the mixed boundary value problems for differential equations with respect to scalar and vector unknown functions are considered. On the examples of diffusion-convection equation and Navier-Stokes system, the motivation of using the staggered grids is discussed. The algebraic properties of obtained grid systems of equation, necessary for analysis of convergence of numerical solutions in vector norms and for estimates of computational complexity, are investigated.
