Details of explosive cladding of antifriction coatings

In machine-building industry, especially in engine construction, there is a problem of cladding metal base with antifriction coating. The coating material usually has a complicated composition and is characterized by a low plasticity. This gives rise to the certain obstacles in efforts to get a reliable bonding between coating and base metal. Nevertheless, in some cases these obstacles can be overcomed by the proper pretreating of materials before the explosive welding and by a choice of welding parameters. In result of research works conducted in Lavrentyev Institute of Hydrodynamics SB RAS and later on in MATEM Co. Ltd. the techniques were developed for the cladding of metal base with coatings composed of multi-component aluminum based alloys as well as of nichrome based cermets
