There are discussed main characteristics of the phase spectra, which have to be taken into account in the solution of several geophysical problems. One of the main features is the continuous extension of the phase spectra of real seismic signals, which allows guaranteeing their uniqueness. The latter is important for the joint processing and analysis of large amounts of the phase spectra data, calculated from the observed seismic signals. These processed spectra can be effectively used in a variety of practical applications. Based on the analysis of synthetic and observed data we demonstrate that the phase spectrum utilization makes it possible to decrease uncertainty in determining the pinching-out of the oil/gas stratum. We also demonstrate how use of the phase spectra influences solution of inverse dynamic problems in the spectral domain during evaluation of parameters of the thin layer objects.
