Mathematical Simulation in Geophysical Problems. Seismic Methods, Problems of Geomonitoring and Geodynamics
Time-lapse or 4D seismic is very promising and intensively developed direction in reservoir monitoring during production life of many reservoirs. The most widely used 4D seismic techniques a baseline 3D seismic survey is made over a producing reservoir and a repeat or monitor survey is conducted after hydrocarbon is produced over some time, the difference in the two data sets providing a measure of the saturation and pressure changes as the reservoir depletes. The objective of the paper is to extend time-lapse measurements at the wells into the interwell reservoir volume. The main advantages of well-bore based acquisition system are extremely low level of noises and possibility to approach as close as possible to the target. But there is significant disadvantage also – there is impossible to install rather dense seismic networks there. So it is important to provide reliable estimation of resolving ability of well-bore based monitoring. In the paper this study is implemented with the help of SVD analysis of linearized operator of inverse problems. Numerical experiments are performed and discussed.
