Numerical calculation of flow around island using adaptive grids

Iterative algorithm for modelling steady fluid flows with surface gravitational waves in river beds with islands is presented. Plane shallow water model is used taking into account irregularities of bottom, force of friction and Coriolis force. For the first time the statement of problem in new dependent variables, i.e. stream function and vorticity function, is used for this kind of flows. Curvilinear adaptive grids are applied. The modification of equidistribution method for constructing curvilinear grids in multiply connected domains is described. The algorithm is developed for calculating the values of stream function on the contour of island. The results of numerical modelling of flow around island, which is situated in river bed with coastline of complicated configuration, are presented.
