Optical criteria for contact and remote diagnostics of phytocoenosis

The inference about the depression of plants and deterioration of their physiological state under the impact of stressor strongly limiting their growth can be made by registering decline of chlorophyll reflection index (ChlRI) measured for each phytocenosis in optimal conditions. When the impact of stressor is poorly expressed and at early stages of stress development when chlorophyll concentration does not vary or varies slightly, the plant depression is detected by the increase of indexes carotenoids to chlorophyll ratio (SIPI), photochemical activity of photosynthetic apparatus (heat dissipation – PRI), anthocyanins and flavonoids contents (ARI, FRI) and indicator of light scattering (R800). All of them indicate diminishing of photosynthetic radiation-use-efficiency and plant growth inhibition.
