Growing anthropogenic load on landscapes of Northern Eurasia is registered last decades, which is connected with mainly extracting industries development in the region. The consequence of economic development of the territory is transformation and degradation of its ecosystems and landscapes, that makes even worse by inability of northern nature to rapid self-recovery.

Under conditions of environmental irreversible changes it is necessary to gather, accumulate and exchange the information on species and landscapes biodiversity of various territories. Among informational resources the most effective are automatized data bases.

The performance prior direction of the Department of Scientific Bibliography of the State Public Scientific-Technological Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPSTL SB RAS) is satisfaction of informational needs of scientists and specialists. For achievement of this goal the current and retrospective indices of literature and bibliographic data bases are created. Biodiversity problems are reflected in such DBs as "Nature and natural resources of Siberia and the Far East, their protection and rational use", "Problems of the North", "Sustainable development of nature and society in Siberia and the Far East","Ecology and conservation of natural-territorial complexes in West Siberia" and retrospective bibliographic index "Environment protection in Siberia and the Far East". Based on these informational resources it was selected the documentary massive and created the problem-oriented data base (PODB) "Biodiversity of Northern Eurasia", which includes about 1000 documents for 1987-2000. The information in PODB was systematized on following themes: 1) general problems; 2) biodiversity of vegetative cover; 3) biodiversity of animal kingdom; 4) biodiversity of soils 5) biodiversity of microorganisms; 6) biodiversity of ecosystems and landscapes; 7) biodiversity of human genome; 8) economics of biodiversity.

POBD includes documents from books, papers from journals and scientific collections, proceedings of conferences and symposia, deponated manuscripts, preprints in Russian and English languages. PODB formation is made basing on the obvious copy of literature entering SPSTL SB RAS and foreign publications getting by the libraries and institutions of SB RAS due subscription and the international books exchange, becides abstract books by VINITI-centre. Documents have a full bibliographic discription, annotations, geographic headings, translations to foreign publications and section codes.

Taking into account the actuality of this theme it is planned current replenishment of PODB, its bibliometric analysis to study scientific research condition on this problem and their development forecast for the future.

Note. Abstracts are published in author's edition
