Lake Teletskoye is the largest and the most deep freshwater reservoir in the south of Western Siberia. The Like is original accumulator for the information about environmental processes influenced by the natural and anthropogenous factors. So, Lake Teletskoye appears to be a convenient object for research of eutrophication, dynamics of primary production, plankton community structures, paleoclimate and pollutants transfering.

Different kinds of research (zoological, botanical, landscape, geomorphological, soil, hydrochemical) were realized in this region for many years. Since 1989 IWEP SB RAS has been carring out hydrobiological monitoring of Lake Teletskoye ecosystems including investigation of phitoplankton, zooplankton, zoobenthos, flora of aqueous and coastal ecotones.

Nowdays there is a problem of structure modeling and functioning simulation of Lake Teletskoye ecosystem and nearby territories. The computing system is designed for the purpose of the problem solution providing interdisciplinary integration and accumulation of information about biodiversity and ecosystem parameters' dynamics. Here integration is considered as logical union of the formalized knowledge in the uniform semantic network with flexible structure allowing logical deduction and information retrieval. Furthermore, that system is able to provide conceptual association of mathematical models, accumulation of the models' implementations, possibilites of collaborative remote users and electronic publication of research results.

The system is able to include several subsystems (domains) Internet-connected. Each domain consists of a database kernel based on SQL-Interbase, application server and intellectual user interface. In engineering process the various architectures of databases (file - server, client - server, multi-tiered client - server) and MIDAS technology, including standards (DCOM, Socket, CORBA), have been tested. The client part connection to ArcView GIS has been implemented as DLL-unit. Developing Web-version and UNIX platform system transfering is planed.

Now system has been applying to manual abstracting of papers and knowledge translation into a conceptual model. The database includes Lake Teletskoye ecosystem species list and detailed taxonomic classification, morphometrycal plankton characteristics, basic biological, ecological concepts and interrelations of concepts, classification of geographical objects, cartographical database. The bathymetric map of the Lake is designed. This map is well consistent with a Lake Teletskoye basin map (scale 1:50000), prepared by E.A.Vishnevskaya, E.M.Visotskiy (UIGGM SB RAS) and S.G.Jakovchenko (IWEP SB RAS). The project is supported by Soros Foundation: the grant RSS 970/1999.
