Mathematical problems in geophysical investigations of solid Earth

The analytical formulas for the gradient of the residual functional for the coefficient inverse problem for system of elasticity for for the horizontally stratified medium

A coefficient inverse problem can be solved numerically with help of minimization of a residual functional. Sometimes it suffices to calculate the functional gradient with some errors, for example, using the differential-difference schemes. But some investigations of the inverse problems require the knowledge of the functional gradient with good accuracy, for example, it may be the investigation of the residual functional resolution.

The formulas fo calculation of the gradient of the residual functional for solving numerically the coefficients inverse problem for the system of elasticity for the horizontally stratified medium are obtained. The chosen statement of the coefficient inverse problem is interesting for the multi-waves geophysics. This formulas are obtained for the first time and easy for the program composition, calculations might be easily parallelized.
