Some methodological aspects of monitoring unknown environment parameters in the case of impossibility of direct measurements are discussed. Under these conditions, resulting estimates are uncertain to some extent. So, the question on minimizing such uncertainties becomes actual. In the report, an approach based on the combination of methods of the theory of extremal (guaranteed) control, computational methods, and ill-posed (inverse) problems is analyzed. The aim of the report is to attract attention to importance of developing a theoretical basis at the interfaces of the modern mathematical fields listed above.
