	NEWS
	THE RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT HAS DISCUSSED PROBLEMS OF YOUTH INVOLVING INTO RUSSIAN SCIENCE November 28 at the Government meeting the measures of strategic character were discussed such as youth involving into Russian science and providing of defense branches of industry with engineering and scientific personnel. There is no necessary to speak about importance of these problems for national security.

	A LINE IN THE LAVRENTIEV ANNALS In a turn of events of the Anniversary year of M.A.Lavrentiev a message was mentioned that the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences has awarded Doctor Sc. (Physics and Mathematics) V.Teshukov (The Lavrentiev Institute of Hydrodynamics of the SB RAS) with the M.A.Lavrentiev Prize 2000 for the series of works "Nonlinear Wave Propagation in Liquids and Gases". At the Institute of Hydrodynamics Professor V.Teshukov has become the fifth winner of this prestigious award in the field of mathematics and mechanics.
	PROFESSOR B.ELEPOV IS A NOMINEE FOR THE CITY COUNCIL The initiative group of the scientists of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences has nominated Doctor Sc. (Engineering), Professor, an expert in the field of informatics Boris Stepanovich Elepov for elections to the Novosibirsk Municipal Council.

In frosty celebratory November days the Sports Hall of the House of Physical Culture of the Novosibirsk Scientific Center has met participants of the 32nd Tournament on Table Tennis for the "Science in Siberia" Newspaper Prizes with cosiness and warmth.
