	SIMULATING THE FUTURE OF MOUNTAINOUS ALTAI From March 11 to March 16, International conference on the problems of the organization of a transnational biospheric territory of sustainable development in Mountainous Altai is held in Novosibirsk.
	A SEMINAR FOR FOLKLORISTS Last days of February a scientific and practical seminar school on the preparation for the publication of the next volumes of the Academic series "Monuments of folklore of the peoples of Siberia and Far East" has been held at the Institute of Philology of the SB RAS.
	NOVOSIBIRSK CHEMISTS, THE WINNERS OF PRESTIGIOUS ACADEMIC PRIZE The Academician A.Balandin prize (after the name of the founder of scientific school in the field of catalysis, author of the multiplet theory of catalysis) have been presented to Doctor Sc. (Chemistry) Tamara Andrushkevich, Candidates Sc. (Chemistry) Valentina Bondareva and Galina Popova from the Institute of Catalysis of the SB RAS for the series of works "Heterogeneous catalytic oxidation of the basic organic compounds into carboxylic acids: mechanism, kinetics, design of catalysts". The prize is awarded once per three years for the best works in the field of catalysis.

	NON-STANDARD THING FROM WOMAN`S LIFE Two years ago Academician L.Ivanova, head of laboratory of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics, has found herself in an extreme situation, to get out of which she was helped by her character, will and belief in her own strength.
	CREATIVE NATURE Alla Zhuravskaya is Doctor Sc. (Biology), leading scientific researcher of the SB RAS Institute of Biological Problems of Cryozone.
	THE LIFE IS EXTREMELY GOOD... Among the very engaged people, with whom we had occasion to meet recently is Doctor Sc. (Chemistry) Elena Boldyreva, leading scientific researcher of the Institute of Solid State Chemistry and Mechanochemistry of the SB RAS, Professor of the Solid State Chemistry chair of the NSU. Original results of the studies on the structures of crystals and chemical reactions in them in the conditions of high pressures obtained by her using diamond anvils, are of considerable interest for the chemists, physicists, biologists, geologists.
	TALENTED PERSON HAS TO REALIZE HIMSELF Irina Georgievna Palchikova, Doctor Sc. (Engineering), senior scientific researcher of the Institute of Automation and Electrometry of the SB RAS. The main field of her work is development of diffraction optical elements and optical systems based on these.
	EXPECTING ARCHEOLOGICAL HAPPINESS Marina Chemiakina is scientific researcher of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, Candidate Sc. (History). Together with the researchers of the Institute of Geophysics of the SB RAS she is engaged in interdisciplinary researches in the field of archeology using geophysical methods.
