	ACADEMIES OF ASIATIC COUNTRIES: COMING TOGETHER TO THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY An information from Irkutsk where the International Symposium "Scientific Policy in Asia" had finished its work is given. Heads of the national academies of sciences of Mongolia, Kyrghyzstan, Jordan, Korea, and Russia expound their views of the Symposium to our correspondent.
	ACADEMIES OF SCIENCES OF ASIATIC COUNTRIES UNITED INTO AN ASSOCIATION The texts of the documents adopted in Irkutsk on September 9 are published both in English and in Russian. The documents are connected with the organising of the Association of Asiatic Academy of Sciences. These texts are the Memorandum about mutual understanding and the Statute of the newborn Academy.
	TOMOGRAPH MAKES A DIAGNOSIS International Tomographic Centre celebrates its tenth anniversary. Deputy Director of the centre Prof. Alexei Podoplelov tells how it was organised by mutual efforts of the Siberian Branch and the Bruker Company.
	A REGIONAL CONTEST FOR 2000 A contest for financial support of research projects in the field of humanities has been announced by the Russian Foundation of the Humanities and the Novosibirsk Region Administration. Projects are to be accomplished within Novosibirsk region and must belong to the following domains: history of Novosibirsk region, sociology, social problems of medicine. The statute of the contest is being published. Deadline date of the contest is September 30, 1999.
	MYSTERIOUS PATHS OF UNKNOWN ANIMALS Deputy Director of the Institute of Taxonomy and Ecology of Animals of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Prof. Anatoly Kharitonov tells how the Karasuk expedition support base of the institute works.
