	COMMISSION ON THE RAS ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT April 1, 2002 the session of the Commission on the organizational development of the Russian Academy of Sciences has been held. The question on restructuring and names of the branches of the Russian Academy of Sciences was discussed.
	INSTITUTES RECOMMENDING... Information on the results of consideration of the nominees for the director positions of the Scientific Research Institutes of the Branch at the meetings and conferences of the institutes` scientific staff.

	THE SB RAS PRESIDIUM MEETING
	EXHIBITION OF the YAKUT SCIENTISTS` ACHIEVEMENTS During the days the General Annual Meeting of the Siberian Branch an exposition of scientific achievements of Republic Saha and treasury of Yakutia is displayed at the Exhibition Center of the SB RAS.
	THERE IS SPRING AGAIN AT PIROGOVA STREET... April 16 the 40th Anniversary Conference "Student and technological progress" has been opened at the Novosibirsk State University. The best students, undergraduates and postgraduates of the main scientific and high-education centers of Russia and near abroad have gathered to participate in it.
	PRIZEWINNERS FROM TOMSK Three young Candidates Sc. of the Institute of Strength Physics and Material Science (ISPMS) have won the prizes named after outstanding scientists of the SB RAS. Petr Korolev has won the Academician M.F.Zhukov Prize in the field of material science and low-temperature plasmas. Svetlana Barannikova has become the Academician Yu.N.Rabotnov Prize winner. The Academician V.D.Kuznetsov Prize has been presented to Alexei Panin for his works in the field of solid-state physics.
	PHYSICS PREFERRING JUNIORS Sergei Murachtin, young researcher of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, has become this year the G.I.Budker Prize-winner in the field of plasma physics and controlled thermonuclear synthesis.
	THREE NAMES Three young scientists of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics have won at once the prizes named of the outstanding scientists of the Siberian branch of the RAS. Post-graduate student Alexei Bolesta has won the Academician S.A.Christianovich Prize. Junior scientific researcher Evgeni Kraus has won the Academician M.F.Reshetnev Prize. In conclusion, there is Candidate Sc. (Physics and Mathematics) Andrei Ivanov among them who have been presented with the Academician V.V.Struminski Prize.
	YOUNG CULTUROLOGISTS` SCIENTIFIC SEARCH Scientists of Barnaul, Biysk, Kazan, Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Tashtagol and, certainly, of Omsk have participated in the All-Russian Youth Scientific Conference "Culturology of traditional communities" held in Omsk.
	REINFORCEMENTS IN MEDICAL ACADEMIC RANKS
	MODERN ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGIES From April 8 to April 12 the 8th scientific and practical International Conference of students, post-graduates and young scientists "Modern engineering and technologies" has been held at the Tomsk Polytechnic University.
	PLAYING FOR HIGH STAKES Today "supramolecular compound" is one of rather popular terms constantly rumored in science. It is not a tribute to the latest thing in fashion. It is unexpected and promising chemistry. Interesting, at last. At the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the SB RAS the works in this field attract attention for a long time.

	TRANSIT POTENTIAL OF RUSSIA Now we finish our story about transit potential of Russia. Today the matter concerns a possible alternative to Trans-Siberian corridor and the work financing problems.
	STALIN FOR NARYM? Discomfiture has happened in Tomsk... because of comrade Stalin. As it has become known, head of the Parabel District Administration Nikolai Kobelev has visited local office of the Union of Artists to order a monument "Young Stalin sitting on a bench".
	SPRING FESTIVAL OF RACE April 11 the 11th traditional Spring Festival of Race has been held at the Academgorodok of Irkutsk. Yuri Palkin, head of laboratory of the Siberian Institute of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, Doctor Sc. (Agriculture) was organizer of the Festival as well as last years. That is the Palkin who is well known among Irkutians to be the founder and popularizer of efficient vegetable technologies, whose books become manuals for many gardeners.
	STRINGS OF HEART April 26 in the House of Culture "Yunost", a large solo author`s concert of Andrei Yushkov will be held; he is professional musician-guitarist, poet, composer, winner of the author`s song festivals. His creation is already well and for a long time known in many cities of Russia and of the CIS not only among the amateurs of author`s songs, but also among exacting connoisseurs of music and poetry.
