	THE INSTITUTE OF BIOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF CRYOLITOZONE OF THE SB RAS IS 50 Congratulation of the Presidium of the SB RAS.
	FORTY YEARS HAVE PASSED, AND EVERYTHING IS REMEMBERED... In July, 1962 the first Summer Physical and Mathematical School for senior pupils has been held at the Novosibirsk Academgorodok. The NSU Specialized Educational and Scientific Center congratulates all of its participants warmly and sincerely on the 40th anniversary.
	THE SIBERIAN STN CENTER IS TEN In the summer of 1992 the Siberian Information Center "STN International" has been opened at the Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry of the SB RAS. It functioned and developed mainly due to the supporting by the Siberian Branch and the foreign partners such as CAS and FIZ.
	A.D.ALEKSANDROV ABOUT EUCLID AND MODERN MATHEMATICS August 4 is the day of the 90th anniversary of Aleksandr Danilovich Aleksandrov (1912-1999), outstanding mathematician of the 20th century, one of the brightest persons of the Russian science.
	HOW DOES DIRECTOR GET ON? Director of the SPSTL of the SB RAS, Doctor Sc.(Engineering) B.Elepov is 60.
	MASTERING LIBRARY SCIENCE January 15, 1980 Candidate Sc. (Physics and Mathematics) Boris Stepanovich Elepov has been appointed director of the SPSTL of the SB RAS. To say that he managed difficult facilities means to say nothing.
	ALL THE HISTORY IN DATABASES Electronic bibliographic resources on the history and modern development of Siberian Academic science are being formed at the SPSTL of the SB RAS.
	EVERYTHING BEGINS FROM THE EARTH Do we know, what the processes take place in the Earth? Scientific report by Corresponding Member V.Oparin "Nonlinear geodynamics: modern achievements and prospective research fields" was discussed at the April session of the Presidium of the SB RAS.
	SIBERIAN PHYSIOLOGICAL FORUM From July 2 to July 4 the 4th Congresses of Physiologists of Siberia and Far East with participation of scientists and experts from the countries of near and distant abroad has been held in the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
	PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY OF ELEMENTARY CHEMICAL PROCESSES Five years have passed, and the conference "Physics and the chemistry of elementary chemical processes" dedicated to memory of Academician V.Voevodsky, has again attracted the scientists from the whole world to the Novosibirsk Academgorodok.
	MATHEMATICIAN AND HIS PROGENY The International Conference "Ill-defined and inverse problems", devoted to outstanding mathematician, full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Lenin and State Prize-winner Michail Michailovich Lavrentiev who has celebrated his 70th anniversary, is opened August 5 at the Novosibirsk Scientific Center.
	CATALYSIS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT About hundred experts in the given field have discussed the global problem such as catalysis for sustainable development at the Russian and Dutch seminar.
	EMERALD HEART OF THE SIBERIAN FLORA There are more than 10 000 species, sorts, hybrids and forms of plants in the live collections of the Central Siberian Botanical Garden of the SB RAS. New expositions of the plants are organized by the season of this year at the BotGarden territory.
	HE WASN`T A "HASTY" SCIENTIST... The series of works by Candidate Sc. (Geology and Mineralogy) Aleksander Titov "Problems of metamorphism, granitogenesis and geodynamics" is marked (posthumously) among the winners of the prizes after the names of outstanding scientists of the SB RAS.
	THE STRUCTURE OF SCIENTIFIC SUCCESS About Igor Marchuk, the Academician Kutateladze Prize-winner.
	THE BIOSPHERE PROBLEMS OF SOIL SCIENCE The third issue of the "Siberian Ecological Journal" has been published.
	TOMSK STATE UNIVERSITY, THE WINNER OF THE PRESTIGIOUS GRANTS The results of the Competition-2002 within the framework of the joint Russian- American program "Fundamental researches and higher education" are published in the newspaper "Poisk" ("Search"). The TSU has won the grant of this prestigious competition in the field of natural sciences.
	FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE TO HAVE WHERE TO LIVE The Presidium of the Tomsk Scientific Center of the SB RAS has recently adopted a temporary statute basing on which the families of young scientists could be provided with habitation. It is made under the recommendation of Presidium of the Russian academy of sciences.

	VIACHESLAV TERZOV FROM ACADEMGORODOK IS THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP PRIZE-WINNER He has won the third place (on the sum) at the European Championship on power lifting and power triathlon among the sportsmen upwards 40 years.
	TAKING A NEW ROUTE July 14 the 14th Competitions on Olympic triathlon were held at Academgorodok.
	TENNIS TOURNAMENT FOR THE "SCIENCES IN SIBERIA" WEEKLY PRIZES
	TRAGEDY IN THE NOVOSIBIRSK ACADEMGORODOK An outing of the two women inhabitants of the Academgorodok to their own garden sites has tragically finished. Bait-dogs left in seclusion at one of the summer residences have managed to escape and have fatally bitten the elderly woman.
