	ACADEMIC SCIENCE OF URAL IS 70 YEARS OLD October 15 the solemn session devoted to such a famous date as 70th anniversary of Academic science of Ural will be held in Ekaterinburg. A number of other anniversary events will take place in the capital of Ural these days.
	YAKUTIA AS AN ADVANCED POST OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF NORTHEAST OF SIBERIA At the end of September the All-Russian scientific conference "Yakutia: an advanced post of the development of Northeast of Siberia, Far East and Russian America (from 17th to 20th centuries)" has been held at the Institute of Humanitarian Researches of the Academy of Sciences of Saha (Yakutia).
	INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION This summer the information has come to the Institute of Solid State Chemistry and Mechanochemistry of the SB RAS from the President of the International Institute of Sintering Sciences (IISS) Academician M.Ristich about the fact that the head of the Laboratory of Mechanochemical Reactions, Doctor Sc. (Chemistry), Professor Е.Avvacumov was elected an active IISS member.

	EUROPE DISCUSSING CHINA From August 26 to August 28 the 14th Conference of the European Association of Sinologists (EAS) has been held in Moscow, in the building of the Presidium of the RAS.
	REFLECTIONS ABOUT SPACE AND TIME At the end of July the 4th Siberian Interdisciplinary Conference "Mathematical problems of space-time physics of complex systems" organized by Academician М.Lavrentiev was held at the Institute of Mathematics.
