	TO MAKE COMMON CAUSE February, 6 Joint Meeting of the Presidiums of the Siberian, Far East and Ural Branches of the RAS has for the first time been held at the Novosibirsk Academgorodok.
	NEW MOMENTUM FOR COOPERATION The task of the Joint Meeting of the Presidiums of the Siberian, Far East and Ural Branches of the RAS was to estimate prospects of cooperation. There was discussion on the results of integration projects competition, on the conditions and prospects of the shared centers of the Institutes of the Branches in the agenda.

	CLOUDS ARE GATERING OVER THE ACADEMY PROPERTY At the Joint Meeting of the Presidiums of the Siberian, Far East and Ural Branches of the RAS, held on February, 6 in Novosibirsk, Director of the Estate Administration Agency of the RAS, member of the Presidium of the RAS Academician L.Leontiev has acquainted the participants with the last legislative trends those are not causing optimism at all.

	FASCINATING ACQUAINTANCE WITH THE INSTITUTE Within the framework of the Days of Science the meetings and excursions had been organized at the G.K.Boreskov Institute of Catalysis for the students of Chemical Engineering College and pupils of the Grammar school N 3.
	WINTER DAY... IN TROPICS Glass doors have opened and a holiday began! It was the holiday of the "Day of Science" in the Central Siberian Botanical Garden of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science.
	MIGHTY NATURE IS FULL OF MIRACLES... Schoolchildren training in the "Young Geologist" Association of the "Galaxy" Center of extracurricular work (Novosibirsk) have visited the Central Siberian Geological Museum of the Institute of Geology of the SB RAS. The children have got acquainted with museum samples almost from all large deposits of Russia, of the nearest abroad and of the world.
	ALL-SIBERIAN OLYMPIAD - 2003 Before the Day of Science the All-Siberian Olympiad on informatics and programming has come to the end at the Novosibirsk Scientific Center.
	SCIENCE IS NOT ONLY SAFE AND SOUND, BUT ALSO DEVELOPING The Presidium of the Tomsk Scientific Center before Day of Science has held joint press conference with the Tomsk Regional Administration.
	CELEBRATING THE DAY OF SCIENCE AT THE KEMEROVO SCIENTIFIC CENTER
	SCIENCE, HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS AND MUNICIPALITIES HEADING TOWARD INNOVATIONS Seminar “Formation and conducting of innovational policy in the cities – the members of the Association of Siberian and Far East Cities (ASFC)" and the ASFC sectional meeting "Science, higher education, innovation: industrial and investment policy" have been dated for the Day of Science in Tomsk.
	THE HIGHER SCHOOL OF KUZBASS On the occasion of the Day of Russian Science, Rector of the Kemerovo State University has met with journalists. Conversation has been devoted to modern condition of the Russian science and the Higher school, as well as to the past, the present and the future of science in Kuzbass.
	IF BUSINESS IS URGING... Valeri Pazelski, head of the Department of External Relations of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1978-83 recollects several days spent near to Academician V.A.Koptiug during the business trip in India.
	PANEGYRIC TO A LASER At the end of December the opening of an automated laser complex for cutting sheet materials has been held at the Novosibirsk Plant of Chemical Concentrates (NPCC).
	ENERGY RATES "BY CHUBAIS" AND "BY KONONOV" The employee of the Institute of Energy Systems of the SB RAS, Candidate Sc. (Engineering) Dmitri Kononov has recently won in the Lavrentiev Competition of Youth Projects of the SB RAS. His works are devoted to urgent questions of mutual relations between producers and consumers of electric power and formation of energetic rates in Russia, in modern conditions of electric power industry restructuring.
	LIFE SCIENCES: WIDE RANGE OF RESEARCHES The Joint Scientific Council on biological sciences of the Siberian Branch of the RAS unites the scientists having a great variety of interests.
	SCHOOL OF YOUNG PROGRAMMERS: PAGES OF THE HISTORY The School of Young Programmers is unique phenomenon that had no and has no analogues in the world, it has arisen in 1976 in the bowels of the Department of Programming of the Computing Center of the SB AS of the USSR.
	SUCCESSFUL DEFENCE Before the Day of Russian Science, Vice-chairman of the Presidium of the Irkutsk Scientific Center of the SB RAS I.Bychkov has successfully defended his doctoral (Engineering) thesis at the Kemerovo Institute of Coal and Coal Chemistry of the SB RAS.
	THE SOVIET DISTRICT: THE FUTURE IS WITH TECHNOPOLIS Head of the Administration of the Soviet District of Novosibirsk, Doctor Sc. A.Gordienko has met with the representatives of local mass-media and told about the results of the last year and the prospects of development of the district.
	EXHIBITION OF THE WORKS BY ARCHITECT SERGEI GRIGORIEV The exhibition of the works by one of the known architects of our city Sergei Michailovich Grigoriev dated for the author’s anniversary finishes to hold in the showroom of the NSC House of Scientists.
