	NEW STRUCTURE OF THE RAS The General Meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences has approved new list of the specialized branches. The final list of the sections included into their structure was authorized later.
	SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS IN JULY
	QUANTUM-DIMENSIONAL NANOSTRUCTURES At the Fifth Russian Conference on Semiconductor Physics many people were interested with the report of young scientist Alexei Nenashev on the electronic structure of quantum points. The research results of the theorist were actively discussed. The author was literally heaped with the questions and inquiries about his publications... Thus the good news about A. Nenashev awarding the Academician A.V.Rzhanov Prize for the series of works "Electronic structure of quantum points of Ge in Si" were taken at the Institute of Semiconductor Physics of the SB RAS as a matter of course.
	SEMINAR OF THE CLASSIC This year the seminar "Group analysis of the differential equations" celebrates the 10th anniversary of the second stage of its work. Academician Lev Vasilievich Ovsiannikov, one of the founders and classics of this scientific field supervises over the seminar.
	SIBERIAN THERMOPHYSICAL SEMINAR-26 The Siberian Thermophysical Seminar (SТS-XXVI), devoted to contemporary problems of thermophysics has been held at the Institute of Thermophysics of the SB RAS (the Novosibirsk Scientific Center). Novel fundamental and applied results in the field of the physical hydraulic gas dynamics and heat-mass exchange were discussed.
	THE STRATEGY AND PRINCIPLES OF THE BAIKAL MODEL The greatest attention at the session of the Presidium of the SB RAS held June 6 has been attracted by the scientific report of Doctor Sc. (Economics) Irina Dumova "The Baikal Regional Model of Nature Management in the Strategy of Siberian Development". Urgent problems of all the region were presented there in the developed form, as well as the pain-points and the mechanisms of the "development" of the territory located "near Baikal". Positive experience of the "Baikal problem" solving will be useful also for the other regions of our country.
	AT THE PRESIDIUM OF THE RAMS At the past meetings of the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences two scientific reports have been discussed.
	THE YOUNG SCIENTISTS DAY IN NOVOSIBIRSK FROM THE "SAMSUNG" AND THE SB RAS June 13-14, 2002 the Day of Young Scientists organized by the Samsung Company together with the Presidium of the SB RAS has been held at the NSC House of Scientists. The purpose of the event was to broaden the cooperation between the Samsung Company, Russian research institutes and educational organizations; to stimulate of the young scientists work; to increase their experience of the international cooperation.
	THE DELEGATION OF THE SIBERIAN BRANCH OF THE RAS VISITING ULAN-BATOR The members of the delegation have visited institutes of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences including the Center of Astronomy and Geophysics, held the meetings with the leaders and employees.
	ON THE LAGO MAJORE LAKESIDE May 26-30 was held the 6th International Conference on the application of physical chemistry in pharmacy "PhandTA-6" has been held at the Askon (Switzerland).
	CREATIVE NATURE Galina Sergeevna Soldatova, Doctor Sc. (Medicine), physician of the supreme category, head of the general therapy ward of the Central Clinical Hospital of the SB RAS. Once while talking a colleague has said about her: " She is a heaven-born doctor! And at the same time a creative nature; she always searches all the new, goes forward and forward!".
	THE ITALIANS IN RUSSIA Italian journalists making motor rally from Bologna (Italy) to Miami (USA) through 24 countries visited the Novosibirsk Scientific Center. Driving their jeeps they have covered 42 thousand km.
	HERE ARE THE LIKES OF US! Three "YNSers" (now the YNS, i.e. the Young Naturalist Station of Academgorodok is renamed to the Laboratory of Ecological Education of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics) have come back from the Apatity City of Murmansk Region. The guys have taken part in the 4th Regional Scientific and Practical conference "World of the Nature is our laboratory".
	THE NSU FOR THE SB RAS: THE FUTURE IS DECIDED TODAY A question on the strategy of development of the Novosibirsk State University was discussed at a recent meeting of the Presidium of the SB RAS.
	NEWSPAPER AS A SUBJECT OF INQUIRY The State examination boards of the NSU have finished their working. About thousand specialist of higher qualification have graduated from Alma Mater. A third of them traditionally go to science and education, the others go to business, the bank and power structures, industry etc.

	PATRIARCHIAL BENEDICTION In the twentieth of May His Holiness The Patriarchy of Moscow and all the Russia Alexis the Second has paid his second visit Tomsk. It is not so much for the sake of auditing church life, as for the sake of giving a new impulse for spiritual and moral progress.
