	ABOUT THE ROLE OF SCIENCE IN SOLVING OF COAL PROBLEMS
	ANCIENT CHIMERAS OF SOUTHERN SIBERIA Within several years archeologists conduct works under the program of the grant "Culture of the population of Scythian time of the bottom Katun", the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science maintained by Presidium. In this season in one of burial places in vicinities of village Manzherok the unique find from sheet gold with a relief of a fantastic horned predator is found out.
	MONGOLIAN IMPRESSIONS From July, 7 to July, 22 within the framework of Russian - German cooperation an expedition of 13 people has been directed to Mongolia from the Institute of Geography of the SB RAS (Irkutsk) and Federal Department for Nature Conservation (Bonn).
	SI 2004 At the G.I.Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics of the SB RAS the fifteenth traditional International conference on synchrotron radiation SI 2004 has been held.
	SOILS: THE BASIS OF LIFE ON THE EARTH The 4th Congress of the Dokuchaev Society of Soil Scientists was held from August, 9 to August, 13 in Novosibirsk, on the base of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the SB RAS. The motto of the Congress is "Soils: the national property of Russia".
	EDUCATION: TIME OF CHANGES On May, 31 of this year the project of the Federal law has appeared on inserting amendments into some tens legislative acts of the Russian Federations concerning social sphere, including the reform of science and higher education. This review is about some changes suggested in the sphere of higher education.

	MURDER OF PROFESSOR ZOLOTUKHIN: YEAR PASSED, BUT IT’S EARLY TO PUT AN END The Novosibirsk Regional Court has left without change a sentence to N.Sokolov the driver who crushed down to death Professor V.Zolotukhin of the Institute of Geology of the UIGGM of the SB RAS in September of last year.

	SUMMER SCHOOL OF YOUNG PROGRAMMERS The A.P.Ershov Summer school of young programmers was lead held from August 17 to August, 31 by the Institute of Informatics Systems of the Siberian Branch of the SB RAS under support of the Novosibirsk Regional Administration, Presidium of the SB RAS, the NSU and some IT - companies.
	TOUCHING THE ETERNITY Regional art exhibition "Tale about Altai" has been opened August, 17 at the House of Scientists of the SB RAS.
	CUP OF CHAIRMAN For the second year the tennis tournament among veterans of the Novosibirsk Academgorodok is held by the Tennis Club of the Academgorodok with participation of the Administrative Department of the SB RAS.
	THE ACADEMICIAN TROFIMUK CHESS MEMORIAL August becomes the month of big hopes for chess players of Novosibirsk Academgorodok. The third year running the Memorial chess tournament dedicated to our outstanding contemporary Academician Andrei Alekseevich Trofimuk.
