	WORKSOP SCHOOL IN ICG From July, 12 to July, 16 the International school of young scientists «Evolution, system biology and supercomputer calculations in bioinformatics» was held at the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the SB RAS.
	JOINING THE EFFORTS FOR THE SAKE OF SCIENCE July, 19 the regular seminar on catalysis of Scientific Council of Joint French and Russian Laboratory has taken place at the Institute of Catalysis, devoted to the discussion of current problems and summarizing on the work carried out.
	LIVING SPIRIT OF CREATIVE IMPULSE From June, 17 to June 24 the 2nd International Kreindel Workshop «Plasma emission electronics» has taken place at the Baikal Lake in Buryatiya. The workshop was devoted to memory of one of the founders of the scientific field, the RF State Prize-winner, Doctor Sc. (Engineering), Professor Juli Efimovich Kreindel.
	ABOUT SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS IN THE BAIKAL NATURAL TERRITORY In June the Baikal Institute for Nature Management of the SB RAS has organized and held two large-scale conferences.
	PHOTONICS: THE TECHNOLOGIES OF THE 21TH CENTURY The first in Russia International specialized exhibition of optical, laser and optoelectronic equipment and componentry "Photonics-2006" has been held in the Central Exhibition Center "EXPOCENTER" at Krasnaya Presnia in Moscow.
	THE TASKS AND PROSPECTS OF THE ALTAI SCIENCE-TOWN At the end of the last year the city of Biysk of the Altai Territory has become the tenth “science-town” in our country. It is the largest by population “science-town” of Russia: there are about 230 thousand inhabitants.
	SCIENCE MANAGEMENT: THE URGENT PROBLEM Last days the problem of reforming of the Academy of sciences is extensively discussed in press. Many people see in the statement of this problem an aggression concerning the Academic community and an encroachment upon fundamental principles of freedom and self-government.

At the end of 2005 and in the first months 2006 the attention of many mass-media has been paid at the discussions about the project of the oil-pipeline «East Siberia - Pacific Ocean». A considerable role in the final decision to remove the pipeline from the Site of Natural Heritage - the Baikal Lake has been played by the position of the scientists of the SB RAS.
