	ACADEMIC OVERCOMING THE DEADLOCK FOR INNOVATION The Round Table “Russian Academy of Sciences – to a new economy and high-tech sectors of Russia and Siberia” has been held as part of “Interra-2012” Forum at the Exhibition Center of SB RAS.
	EXPERTS HAVE DISCUSSED PROBLEMS OF EXTRACTING AND USING RARE EARTH METALS Russia needs to define the strategy for development of industry related to the rare earth metals production and use. Such a conclusion has been made by the participants of Round Table “New Materials – to New Economy”, held in Novosibirsk Academgorodok as part of Forum “Interra-2012”.
	COMPETITION ANNOUNCED In frames of the state-supported projects of young scientists, postgraduate and postdoctoral students, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation Policy of Novosibirsk Region has announced a competition for nominal prizes, scholarships and grants from the Novosibirsk region government.
	AGREEMENT WITH “ROSTEKHNOLOGII” HAS BEEN SIGNED An Agreement on Cooperation between the largest Russian government-controlled holding company “Rostekhnologii” and the Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences has been signed at the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (Irkutsk) on September 14.
	COURT ALLOWED THE PMS TO RETAIN UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS On September 18, the Novosibirsk Regional Court has reversed the judgment of the Soviet District Court, that fined a Specialized Scientific Study Center of NSU (former PMS) for the University level teaching.
	PROJECT “MERIDIAN” AND SPACE WEATHER The XI Russian-Chinese Conference on Space Weather has been held at the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of SB RAS from September 3 through September 8.
	SIBERIAN HYDROELECTRIC POWER STATIONS AND NATIONAL SECURITY OF RUSSIA The Russian-Chinese Seminar “Geodynamic monitoring of hydrotechnical systems” has been held at the Special Design and Technological Bureau “Nauka” (Science) of the SB RAS Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center on August 20.
	GEOCHEMISTRY CONFERENCE ON BAIKAL The IV International Conference and III School-Seminar for early-career geoscientists “Ultramafic-mafic complexes of folded regions and its minerageny” have been held in Ulan-Ude.
