	TO THE 85TH ANNIVERSARY OF BIRTH OF ACADEMICIAN I.YU. KOROPACHINSKY Congratulations from the SB RAS Presidium.
	YOUTH AWARDS OF THE RF GOVERNMENT – TO SIBERIANS In compliance with Decree of the Government of Russian Federation of March 1 2013, two Siberian teams have been awarded the 2012 RF Government Prize in the field of science and technology for young scientists.
	RESULTS OF FIELD WORK COMPETITION FOR INSTITUTES IN 2012 The targeted support for field works is being provided by the Siberian Branch for over 12 years, and every year the number of applications is growing, the geography and subjects of research expeditions expanding. Geologists, archaeologists, biologists traditionally take part in the expeditions and in recent years physicists, chemists, mathematicians are also being involved in field studies, getting new knowledge, from other than laboratory sources.
	THROUGH INTEGRATION – TO SUCCESS In late February, the science city Biysk has hosted an extended meeting of the Bureau of Special Council of SB RAS on the development of advanced hypersonic aircraft and related engines.
	SPACE SCIENCE CAFE IN ISTP In early March, the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of SB RAS has hosted the Russian-British Space Science Cafe “Solar flashes: the expected consequences for the planet”.
	HOW TO SET UP AN ATOMIC CLOCK Optical standards of frequency (OSF) and time - one of the main directions of development of modern atomic clock. Works on the creation of OSF have been started at the Institute of Laser Physics of SB RAS on the initiative of Academician V.P. Chebotaev and further developed due to the decisive contribution of Academician S.N. Bagaev.
	SIBERIAN EDUCATION FORUM The XII Siberian Education Forum hosted by the Tomsk Regional Administration and the RF Ministry of Education and Science, will be held in Tomsk from March 27 through March 29.
	SPACE MONITORING CENTER IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN TOMSK The Tomsk State University and JSC Gazprom Space Systems have launched a project on setting up a regional space monitoring center.
	SURVEY OF CURRENT KNOWLEDGE ABOUT LAKE BAIKAL A book “Baykal studies” has been presented at the Irkutsk State University.
	THE FIRST OPEN ROBOTICS FESTIVAL TO BE HELD IN NOVOSIBIRSK The festival will take place from March 14 through March 16 at the Technopark of Novosibirsk Academgorodok.
	ARTIFACTS - FOR FREE! A Museum of Tunguska Meteorite, attached to the Lab of archeology and paleogeography of Central Siberia at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of SB RAS is functioning at the KSC of SB RAS.
	MAN IN THE BIOSPHERE A report “Man in the Biosphere”, dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of Vladimir Vernadsky, has been read by A.A. Titlyanova – Doctor of Sciences (Biology), the NSU Professor, environmentalist, a recognized world expert in the biological cycle and ecosystem ecology. The event was held at the Science Caf? “Eureka!” on March 12.
	PRINCE KROPOTKIN’S YEARS SPENT IN IRKUTSK Peter Kropotkin’s Anarchist Communism was based on liquidation of the state - the essence of his doctrine is known not only to politicians. Kropotkin discoveries in the natural sciences are not well-known, but the monographs written by Peter Alekseevich give him a status of local classic.
