Scientific Program

Four-day scientific program of BOE-2007 will comprise plenary invited lectures, key-note presentations, oral presentations and posters on the following topics:

Language

The official language of the Conference is English.



Publication Opportunites

Compact Disk with the Abstracts will be published before the Conference and distributed to the participants at the registration. Conference Proceedings will be published in a Special Issue of the Paleontological Journal http://www.maik.ru/cgi-perl/journal.pl?lang=eng&name=palrus) in English after the conference. Only papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication. All manuscripts will be peer reviewed, and selected papers will be included in the conference’s proceedings volume. Manuscripts should be submitted by E-mail zam@catalysis.ru not later than November 15, 2007. You can find regulations in the attached Guide for Authors.

Presentation

Duration of the plenary lectures is 40 minutes, key-note presentations – 25 minutes, oral presentations – 15 minutes including time for questions. Scientific Conference Committee kindly asks to confirm participation before September 1, 2007 to avoid drastic changes in the scientific program.
Beamer facilities for the projection of computer- or video signal on the screen will be provided. It is recommended that you prepare computer presentations in *.ppt format (Microsoft Power Point from the package MS Office).
Posters should be not more than 85 cm wide and 120 cm high. They should be readable from 2 m distance.
The Posters Session is expected to be a significant part of the program, followed by the Round Table discussions.



Location

The Conference will be held in the Business Center of the Club Hotel Loutraki Conference Resort & Casino 5* (Posidonos Str. 48, 20300, Loutraki, Greece; tel. +30 27440 60300, fax +30 27440 60306, http://www.clubhotelloutraki.gr), situated in the city of Loutraki. It is just 90 minutes drive southwest from Athens’ International Airport.


Climate and clothing

The average temperature in Loutraki at the end of October is normally 23-25oC. Swimming suits are advised.

From Athens International Airport:

  • Train-express Athens-Korinthos (city-port on Peloponnese), travel takes app. 1 hour, price of the ticket 6 Euro. It is possible to take a train both at the airport and in the center of Athens (any station, including Central Station Stathmos Larissis).     Then:
  • The bus Korinthos-Loutraki (from 5 a.m. till 10 p.m. every 30 minutes), travel takes 15-20 minutes, price of the ticket 1.00 Euro, or taxi Korinthos - the Hotel (app. 10 Euro).

    Registration

    The registration of BOE-2007 participants will take place at the Casino Hotel Loutraki on October 28, 2007, from 10 a.m.

    Registration Fee

    The registration fee is 480 Euro for each regular participant with reduced rate for students and accompanying persons. Registration fee includes all conference materials, Welcome reception, 4 lunches, refreshments, social program.

    Vicinity of Loutraki

    Loutraki has the privilege to be located in a strategic geographical position (a transport, commercial nerve center, a connecting point between the Athens and Peloponnese). Coming from Athens, Corinthia is the first prefecture you come to in the Peloponnese, the first sign of warmth and excitement. The tour includes an overview of the Loutraki vicinity, you will visit the monastery of St. Potapios, you will come to Lake Vouliagmeni which is joined to the sea by a narrow channel. You see the ruins of the Temple of Hera Akraia and Limenia. This place gives one a foretaste of what to expect from the main sanctuary to Hera in the Peloponnese. Corinth Channal - the grandoius construction of the 19th century. The excusion will be finished at Nemeya, the place of the first Heracle feat, where the world-known center of wine-making is situated. You will be offered the degustation of some Greek wine.


    Post-conference Tour

    Two-days Post-conference tour to METEORA

    Meteora – a unique valley in the north of Greece, one of the most spectacular places in the country. Tens ancient orthodox monasteries are constructed at tops of steep separately costing rocks. Till now in some of them monks can get only by means of cords. The word METEORA means literally 'hovering in the air'. What created this rare geological phenomenon is one of the mysteries of nature.

    November 2 (9 a.m.) – Drive to KALAMBAKA through LEVADIA, ARACHOVA, DELPHI and towns of Central Greece.

    November 3 (coming back to Athens in the evening, app. 9 p.m.) - Morning visit of the breathtaking METEORA and its monasteries built on the top of high rocks. Drive back to ATHENS passing through THERMOPYLAE and KAMENA VOURLA

    The price of the tour is 190 Euro (single accommodation) and 170 Euro (double accommodation). One breakfast, two lunches and one dinner are included (without drinks). The accommodation is in the tourist-class hotels. Guided Excursion is included. Entrance fees to the monasteries, to the archaeological site and the Museum in Delphi are not included.
